Whats running through my mind

Well today in AP Literature we went over a song called "Imagine" by John Lennon. This poem talks about uniting the world and all of the things that we must overcome in order to do it. I will unite all of humankind throughout my life span. The only problem I have is finding out how that task can be completed. When we listen to the song"Imagine" I not only began a deep thought about what Lennon was saying in but tried to apply his words into a plan, no better yet The Masterplan. Some can argue that uniting the world is an impractical goal, and that too many things will stand in my way. I know that I cannot go door to door and talk everyone into forming a single country, but I can form an organization full of people who can aid me in my mission.

Quarter 1 Reflection

Throughout my 12th grade career I have already engaged some difficult challenges. The classes I have challenges in are: Algebra 3, and AP Biology. In my AP Biology I ended off with an A even though that is an awesome grade I feel as the class is undermining my grade because the work seems pointless. In my Algebra 3 class I ended off with a C+ the reason that I struggle throughout that class is because when it comes to test and quizzes I lose confidence in what I've learn and begin to second guess myself. In my more productive classes like D.C History, AP Literature and AP Government I believe that my interest in the content causes me to put my best work forward. Not to say that the other classes don't grab my interest just that History and Government tend to be my strong suit. In my AP Government class I ended off with a B+ which consisted of no lee way because every assignment was graded. In the my D.C History class I ended of with a C, that was just because of a Review Essay that I did poorly on seeing that it was my first essay on which I had to critic someone else work. Finally there is AP Literature this class is very productive and worth wild. I feel as if this class truly prepares me for writing I even began writing a book because of that class.

Read all about

I watch a report about the "lame duck" Congress. Lame duck is when retired or congresspeople who didn't get re-elected come to vote one last time. The report is apart of the Fast Fix Show is a particular section of the Washington Post that focuses on the federal government. The reporter Chris Cillizza talks about the current lame duck session in which they are voting to decide if to keep Bush's tax cuts in effect. This show also stated the people likely to run for president in 2012 which are: Sen. John Thune, Governor Haley Barbour, Governor Tim Pawlonty, Sarah Palin, and Mitt Romney. Each of these candidates are very popular some more than the next which make the next election that much more interesting.

I found this information by going to Yahoo and looking through the news that was posted. This RSS feed is very common. It can also be subscribed to which defeats all of the time looking to find new information. The hyperlink is

Going to Greece

During my junior year of high school I was able to go to Greece for almost all of June. The way I got there was by three factors. I showed up to class every day it was held which was Monday and Friday. In the class we received bucket loads of notes daily and was quizzed on it in the next class. Me and my friends stuck together to make sure we passed the quizzes. Greece was a beautiful experience. When I got back I had a desire to cook. I also wanted to do more traveling in different cultures to get a mix of experiences. While living in Greece I realized that Americans have much more freedom than those in other countries. However the people there seem to be okay with what they do and don't have.

Dreamweaver vs. Wikispaces

I prefer Dreamweaver over Wikispaces for many reasons. One I do not like how any one who is a member can edit your work on Wikispaces. Dreamweaver is like a blank canvas which gives you more control over how your web pages look while Wikispaces a list of options for you to choose from. However Wikispaces is a good tool to use for beginners because you don't need a manual in order to use all of the capabilities of that software. Dreamweaver's manual can get people use to the type of work you will work on if you plan on going into a technology based job.

Review of Ward 8 and Hurrican Katerina

Unfortunately I was unable to view the first half of the film due to a soccer game in which we WON! However I was able to see some terrible things. Like armed forces blocking private aid to the people or forcing over 5,000 people into the Convention Center. What I saw made me question if this took place in the United States the "land of the free". The worst part is that down in New Orleans things are far from better, and we are not doing anything to help our neighbors.

What is a Natural Disaster

A Natural Disaster is an event in which a life is greatly hindered from moving forward. Even things such as a break-in, kidnapping, or car theft could all be examples of a natural disaster. I say that because unfortunate event you don't see coming. Even worse you can do little to prevent it I call it natural because just liker bullets don't have names mishaps can pick anyone just by coincidence. When people think of natural disasters they think of hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and much much more. If we were to compare my idea of natural disaster and the normal ideas of natural disasters they have allot in common. For one they both hurt people's lives, they are unexpected, little can be done in advanced, the victims receive little to no warning, and the victims all have to build up from what they are left with.

It's ME

Hi Calvin again well I want to update you on who I am. I am a high school senior age 16 and I attend SEED Public Charter School. Currently I am in the process of being accepted into the POSSE program. The POSSE program is a scholarship that pays for you to go to one of the six top tier colleges. The process sends you through a series of interview each one more rigorous than the last. On the other hand I have created my first video game which really got me into the mechanics of what needs to be considered when making video games. I also spent this past June in Greece, a breathtaking experience that really made me value living here in the U.S. Well that's a brief synopsis of whats big in my life.

Bettering those Around Me

I am currently advocating for a better school system in the SEED Public Charter School. If I can start a shift in education then eventually all schools in D.C will gradually grow. THe U.S nation has a wide variety of schol sytems ranging from the black boards to a pure techno sensation. The states further out west seem to have something that makes their students stand out if we can grab hold of that potential there is no telling to what may happen. The future lies within our kids we must prepare them to lead this country one day.

What I Spend Money On...

Well I like a vast assortment of things all of which i believe represent differeent parts of me. For example i buy video games not only bacause I really enjoy them but because I aspire to be the best video game designer/entreprenuer. I also buy clothes, now I don't really have a particular brand it's what ever catches my eye that I choose to buy. Especially when it comes to shoes I rarely see a good pair of shoes but I do buy them often, I consider getting new shoes at least twice a year to be a must. Aside from that I buy diffrent types of cake batter because I have recently got into the habit of baking and loving. For example my Best Friend Tiera's birthday is coming up in a week and I plan on baking her a cake, I'm even starting to cook dinner for my family on a regular bases. However my mom buys the food and I get to cook whatever I want as long as it's in the budget. Well thats what I spend my money on.
